DestinationRx Wins Five-Year CMS Contract Renewal
Industry leader to provide price and plan comparison technologies, decision support tools for Medicare.gov
LOS ANGELES, CA – June 2, 2010 – DestinationRx, Inc., a health plan and drug comparison industry leader, is pleased to announce its shared success in the award of the new Website Management Contract for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as part of the bidding team led by CGI Federal, Inc. The contract award covers the operations of all Website activities for the agency and most importantly, covers the operations of the flagship websites Medicare.gov for beneficiaries and CMS.gov for healthcare industry and government use. The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process with the new contract’s period of performance extending through 2014.
As part of the overall Websites contract award, DestinationRx provides price and plan comparison technology, healthcare price processing and normalization services that cover plan details and drug formulations as well as electronic enrollment technology used by Medicare beneficiaries, caseworkers, and 1-800-Medicare Call Center operators. The company has licensed its proprietary technology to CMS since 2003, to aid in the implementation of the Medicare Modernization Act, ensuring over 40 million Medicare beneficiaries have access to safe and effective medications vital to maintaining and improving their health.
“We are proud to have been a vital part of the Medicare rollout over these past six years, and look forward to continuing to provide critical decision support tools and other key technologies to CMS and its Medicare beneficiaries,” said Jim Yocum, Executive Vice President for DestinationRx. “These tools give consumers unprecedented access to, and simplicity of, the information they need to become smarter and more confident health care decision makers and buyers.”
DestinationRx’s plan and drug comparison technologies and services reach over 100 million Americans through government agencies, health plans, PBMs, consumer advocacy groups and employers. The technology that CMS licenses in support of the Part D Prescription Drug Benefit and Medicare Advantage plans is the same technology used across the healthcare industry to assist and enroll more than nine million Medicare beneficiaries in the last six years, making DestinationRx the largest Healthcare Exchange solutions provider in the market.
DestinationRx technology has been awarded the Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS) Point and Click Award for 2010, and is also a Webby Awards Official Honoree this year. When DestinationRx tools were first added to Medicare.gov, the applications won the E-Gov Institute’s Pioneer Award in 2005.
